This video \nshows how to make both painting and priming a snap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You Need<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>cellulose sponge, \ndishwashing liquid, painter&#8217;s tape, primer, paint, paint tray, paint \nroller, two-inch angled paintbrush, ladder<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Follow These Steps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Clean the walls<\/strong><br \/>Using\n a large cellulose sponge and a solution of water mixed with a few drops\n of mild dishwashing liquid, clean your walls to remove any dust, dirt, \nand grease.<\/li><li><strong>Tape the trim<\/strong><br \/>Use blue painter\u2019s\n tape (not masking tape) to protect any areas you don\u2019t want your paint \nto get on, such as trim, molding, doorknobs, window frames, and door \nframes: Run long strips of the tape just inside the outer edges of these\n areas. (The outer edges of the tape should lie exactly where the wall \nmeets the trim, covering the parts of the trim that your roller or \npaintbrush might hit when you paint.)<\/li><li><strong>Pour primer into a tray<\/strong><br \/>Pour\n in enough so that it almost fills the well toward the bottom of the \ntray without covering the angled portion of the tray where the ridges \nare.<\/li><li><strong>Roll the primer onto the wall<\/strong><br \/>Dip your \nroller into the primer, rolling it back and forth across the tray\u2019s \nridges a few times to remove any excess and prevent drips. Make sure the\n roller gets evenly coated. Run the roller up and down a section of the \nwall, applying primer until the section is fully covered. Continue until\n your wall is fully covered, reapplying primer to the roller as needed.\n                  \n                  &nbsp;\n                  \n                  <br \/>\n                  <strong>Tip: <\/strong> Follow the manufacturer\u2019s \ndrying instructions, which you\u2019ll find on the can, to make sure the \nprimer is completely dry before applying paint.<\/li><li><strong>Paint the trim<\/strong><br \/>Dip\n a two-inch angled brush into the paint, coating the bristles only about\n a third of the way down the brush. Run the brush along the outer edge \nof the tape that\u2019s covering the trim (on the wall side of the tape; not \nthe trim side). Keep applying paint flush against your taped trim, \nworking it outward about two or three inches from the tape. Continue \nuntil you have finished painting a narrow swathe along all of the taped \nareas.<\/li><li><strong>Roll on paint in a \u201cw\u201d shape<\/strong><br \/>Fill a \npaint tray with paint; dip your roller into it, removing excess. Roll \nthe paint onto the wall in a 3-by-3-foot \u201cw\u201d shape. Working your way \nback across that \u201cw,\u201d without lifting the roller, fill in empty patches \nuntil that section of wall is fully covered. Continue, adding more paint\n to the roller as needed, until the whole wall is painted.<\/li><li><strong>Remove the painter\u2019s tape<\/strong><br \/>Peel off the tape while the paint is still wet to avoid accidentally removing any dried paint along with it.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Getting ready to paint a wall?
