Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said, “Thailand is committed to promoting and pushing tourism towards sustainability. Promoting and caring for marine and coastal ecosystems is one of the 17 important goals of the Sustainable Tourism Goals (STGs), which TAT has developed in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to enhance and set the standards of Thai tourism. TAT believes that using the Storytelling strategy to tell stories of caring for the Thai seas through beautiful and interesting images of the Thai seas can help create positive behavioral changes, such as reducing plastic use, cleaning beaches, turning marine waste into jewelry to create new value, and supporting practices that lead to sustainability. These are all important things in helping to preserve the marine environment for future generations.”

GoPro has also partnered with PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors®) to offer a dive instructor training course in Koh Tao, where upon completion, instructors will be qualified to teach the GoPro PADI Distinctive Specialty Course to PADI divers.
“We created this course with GoPro so that divers can capture and share their amazing underwater adventures. Learning to dive will change your life forever. Learning to capture and share your underwater stories with your GoPro will inspire others to do the same, while raising awareness and action to help preserve our planet,” said Lisa Nicklin, PADI Worldwide’s Vice President of Marketing.
To top it off, GoPro is hosting the GoPro Asia Best Challenge (GoProABC), inviting adventurers, content creators, and storytellers from across Asia to share their favorite unedited GoPro footage. Submissions are open until 11:59 PM on July 31, 2024 via GoPro.com/ABC. Winners will be announced in August 2024 and will be notified via the GoPro Awards channel.
Don’t miss the chance to showcase your awesome adventures and contribute to ocean conservation. Join us in celebrating the beauty and treasures of our oceans through the powerful storytelling power of GoPro.
